Welcome to Pelham, Alabama!

Pelham is referred to as the gateway to Shelby County and is in the heart of one of the most affluent and educated counties in the state. It is located about 20 miles south of Birmingham

It is a vibrant community with its own golf courses, world class racquet club and tennis center, an ice rink which hosts everything from youth to college and professional hockey as well as providing an outlet for individual ice skating enthusiasts and figure skaters.

Pelham boasts Alabama’s largest state park. Oak Mountain State Park has 10,000 acres of hills and trails for everything form hikers to horseback and BMX riders. It features several fishing lakes and a fishing center, Flipside Watersports and a day use lake for canoeing and peddle boats. It is a haven for local families and individuals looking to escape the rat race without having to leave their own back yard.

Pelham is still close enough to Birmingham though to enjoy all the amenities the Metropolitan area has to offer, such as world class restaurants, major medical facilities, colleges and universities, theater, The Birmingham Symphony, an award winning art museum, an extremely popular zoo, The McWane Science Center and much more.

Pelham recently formed its own school system. A new elementary school was just completed and soon there will be a second one. A new middle school is currently under construction and improvements are underway to its high school.

The city has an active youth recreation program which encompasses baseball, softball, ice hockey, basketball, soccer and football—something for every season.

The city features an excellent city park system and a new recreation/multi-use facility is under construction at the Pelham Parkway entrance to Pelham City Park.

A new library is also about to be built.

Pelham enjoys one of the lowest crime rates in the state and has an excellent fire rating which saves residents on their insurance expenses.

If you are looking to relocate, you owe it to yourself to come and visit Pelham, Alabama—it’s a great place to live, work and play!
